Honest limits: what a Tailswatch tag can do, what it cannot, and what our guides are for.
Last updated October 9, 2026
A Tailswatch tag makes it far easier for someone who finds your pet to reach you. But it depends on a person finding your pet, noticing the tag and choosing to scan it. We cannot guarantee that a lost pet will be found or returned.
The tag has no battery and does not transmit its position. A location is only shared when the person who scans the tag chooses to share it from their phone. Its accuracy depends on that phone, its settings and its signal, and the location shows where the scan happened, not where your pet is now.
A tag only shows your pet's profile while your subscription is active. Finders also need a phone with a camera and an internet connection to open the profile.
Health conditions, medicines and contact details shown on a pet profile are entered by the owner. Tailswatch does not check them, and they are not veterinary advice.
Articles on our blog, including guidance on pet food, nutrition, health and safety, are general information to help pet parents. They are not a substitute for advice from a qualified veterinarian, who can examine your pet. If your pet is unwell, injured, or you are unsure about their diet, please speak to a vet.
Pet stories and customer reviews describe individual experiences. Your own experience may differ.
